Feng Lin graduated from Tianjin University with a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering in 2009, and from Colorado School of Mines/National Renewable Energy Laboratory with a PhD degree in Materials Science in 2012. During his PhD education, Feng involved in multiple interdisciplinary projects with focuses on building energy efficiency (smart window technologies), electrochemistry and heterogeneous catalysis. Feng also brought a remarkable depth of efforts towards the knowledge transfer from research lab to industrial partners. Feng joined Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in February 2013 and has continued enriching his academic profile in renewable energy related technologies. Currently, Feng is particularly interested in developing new materials (e.g., lithium battery materials) for renewable and environmental applications, and gaining mechanistic understanding to enhance the possibilities for relevant technologies. His current research efforts include: (1) design, synthesis and electrochemical characterization of lithium-ion battery materials and (2) understanding of electrochemical surface/interface using synchrotron X-ray and electron microscopy/spectroscopy techniques.
